A Chess Set for Will

Chess board and pieces
Our son William enjoys playing chess and even started the Chess Club at his Middle School.

Cathe Holden of, just something I made, provided free files of squares and end paper pieces and the how to's, I knew Will would like his own set.   So, I asked Jeff to cut the plywood board and I spray painted the board, pieces and finally glued square and end papers to plywood.

On Christmas Eve, Will opened  this handmade gift and he LOVES it!  And he's already defeated me during the 1st match.

Do you like homemade gifts, either giving or receiving?  I really like homemade gifts; they speak of the giver's love and special talents.
Red's eye view!

Can you play chess?  I am looking for someone, anyone to beat the BOY

If you're looking for a blog that provides fun and easy crafting ideas, please check out Cathe's at
just something I made, she's a very talented and generous graphic designer!

See ya!

  1. WOW that is an awesome hand made gift! I don't play chess myself but I have always wanted to learn. I hope you have recovered from your Holiday hang-over :) Sandy xox
