Thankful Thursday

Tornadoes hit Western Massachusetts in the early evening yesterday.

This never happens here.  We get many thunderstorms in the Summertime,
Nor'easters in the Winter, Rain & pollen in Springtime, and lovely foliage in Autumn.  This is so unusual, that despite hearing about the warnings, I took my 16 year old daughter out to an appointment in Westfield (declared state of emergency last night) because I FOOLISHLY thought weathermen were over-reacting again.  Um, not so much...and never again.  Feeling very, very lucky today!!!

Through connections on facebook and telephone, friends and family checked and
re-checked on how we were fairing.  Weather updates from folks who watched the Weather Channel radar updates, helped us deal with the enormity and REALITY of what was happening.  For that we are very thankful

Now, I am trying to figure out how I can help our neighbors and friends in surrounding communities.  The local RED CROSS is looking for donations and volunteers.  Due to Red cross efforts around the world and in our own country, with places hit FAR worse than us, they are low on funds and manpower.  I will be donating what and where I can...

Today we are safe and aware that all too often we take that fact for GRANTED.

Take care of each other and help out where you can, I know my neighbors would appreciate it.

Peace,
Donna
