Altered Book making with Julie Fei-Fan Balzer

cover art
Lora and I took an Altered Book class, at Absolutely Everything in Topsfield, MA.  A great place to take my 1st hands on class;)

Julie is a great instructor, sharing tips and advice about so much.  I'll admit to being a bit overwhelmed at times, BUT I learned heaps, bunches and loads!

Julie has an online course coming up called Dirty Fingers, Clean Design as part of True Scrap, which will be available like for forever so check it out.

Her blog Balzer Designs is jam packed with tons of tutorials, fabulous photographs and her amazing artwork.

white on black stencil and painted butchers paper
Julie brought her fabulous Mom along to assist her and us.  I love that!

tab-book page spray dyed and stenciled
Dimension page with leather flowers
There are so many possibilities with book altering, but you've got to remove lots of pages and glue a bunch together in order for it to all fit in.

For me art is a journey and it's about color, energy, texture, light and dimension.  This book is a reminder of my love and enjoyment and exploration of ART.

Thanks Julie and Lora!

Planning to take a class soon, online or in person?  I would love to hear what you're up to.  I highly recommend BOTH kinds of classes!

  1. WTG, Queenie! This is awesome. Classes are wonderful motivators and always make me encouraged and excited (even with bad classes you can learn something!). Glad you're being so creative and having so much fun!
